Today Rory and I went to the British School to meet her new teacher. I was pretty sure what class she would be in, but wasn't completely sure until we arrived at the school today. I was right! And I'm looking forward to this year -- she's back in the same classroom she was in last year and I've heard only wonderful things about her new teacher.
Rory was completely happy to walk into the school and all the way down the hallway to her classroom, but once we arrived in the room she was a little bit shy. It didn't last long. We met her new teacher Miss Penny who encouraged Rory to play with the toys in the classroom. Once she began playing there was no turning back to me and she played with several of her old favorites before settling at the play dough table for awhile.
I spoke with Miss Penny and filled out the information sheet for the year. After leaving the play dough table, Rory headed to sand table. Then Rory and I both made hand prints with colored ink that will be posted one of the classroom's bulletin boards. Rory's teacher from last year was in the room today (because it is still her classroom two days of the week) and Rory got Miss Fay to read her a book -- Miss Fay was holding the book and Rory looked at it and then led Miss Fay over to the reading area with pillows.
Rory will still go to school from 9-12, but this year she'll be in school on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I think it's going to be a great year!
