vinterferien

This past week was winter break (vinterferien) here in Norway.  Maybe we should have planned a beach vacation to get away from the cold, snow, and ice.  But we didn't, so we made the best of it here.

Rory has a book called our Wonderful World.  The characters in it take a hot air balloon ride across the world.  Rory can recite most of the book from memory.  In the back of the book there are instructions for making a wonderful balloon.  Rory made her own wonderful balloon this week.

On Wednesday we had a play date with Rory's friend Hannah at Capella Play, an indoor playground here in Stavanger.  We all had a great time.  Rory really loves seeing Hannah and it doesn't happen too often because our school schedules are opposite now.  We'd planned a play date with a Norwegian family that we've met, but they were all sick so that didn't happen.  On Thursday Rory and I made oatmeal butterscotch cookies after running errands.  Friday was playgroup as usual, only Hannah was there because she didn't have school.  Rory was a happy girl this week!

This week marked one year since Stepler and I were here on our advance trip.  One year ago we visited Stavanger for the first time and found our apartment.  Hard to believe that was a year ago.
